Rehearsals have begun!!!

What a fun first day with the leads on our first few songs!  Everyone is very talented and was really well-prepared!  I'm sure that this will an amazing show!

Reminder:  You must abide by the code of conduct at all times.  This governs the use of illegal substances - even when not at school or at a school function.  It also governs your grade requirements.  No F's at any time, and always at least a 2.0 GPA.  If at any point you don't meet the grade requirements, you will be put on a "sudden death" grade watch and then given a week to get your grades up.  After that, the moment your grades don't meet code, your part will be recast.

Starting today, as soon as you miss a week's worth of school for illness, you will be put on a "sudden death" attendance contract.  After that, you will have one more absence and then you will be recast.  We just don't have the time to catch you up beyond that.

Cast list and read-through!

Today at 2:05, Ms. Geoghegan will post the cast list by the theater doors.
At 2:15, all cast members will check in and read through the entire show, with music, until we are done.  We have an amazing cast this year!!!  I was already getting chills during auditions!  We are super-excited to work with all of you!  Mrs. Tidwell

AUDITIONS!!!!!

Tuesday starting at 4:15 OR Wednesday starting at 3:15, February 10 or 11.
Right after school in the MJT until we're done.
Bring your audition forms and your packet.
Bring your calendar with you and be ready to list ALL of your conflicts!!!!
Practices are at 4:15 on Mondays and Tuesdays, right after school on other days.
You will get a production calendar at auditions.

Chorus Auditions
First will be chorus auditions - so everyone present (leads and chorus) will sing Tradition together and I will assign you a voice part.  Remember, nobody is turned away as long as you are at all practices, meed the code of conduct, and work hard.  After that, those only wanting to be in the chorus will be free to go unless Ms. G wants to hear you read something.

Lead Auditions
Second will be lead auditions.  Those wanting to have a speaking/solo/character role in the show will be asked to sing alone from the audition packet (everything besides Tradition).  First I will ask you to sing things I think I need to hear you on, then I'll ask for you to sing anything you think I should hear that I missed.  The part of Fruma-Sarah will be done via vocalizing and a few other things. Be ready to sing everything from the packet.  Be open-minded about roles.  We want you to be cast in the part that best fits you!

Ms. G will have you do a cold reading from the actual script that best highlights the different roles.  You may be paired with different actors and thus, could read the same script more than once. You will have time to look it over, and then you should do your very best to portray the character(s) in the given scene.

There will be no call-back auditions.
There will be no double-casting or understudies.
Smaller roles not designated at cast posting will be assigned during rehearsals as we get to know you and your abilities.  We also love to reward dedicated cast members with a little something extra if possible!

AUDITION MEETING!!

Come find out important info about the all-school musical, Fiddler On the Roof.
The meeting will be Wed, Dec 17, 2015 right after school in the MJT.

We'll be giving out audition packets with the required audition materials inside, and we'll be answering questions.

Nobody is turned away!  You can't "fail" an audition!  Just sign up and be ready to work and you're in!  If you are interested in a lead part, there are things in the packet you'll have to prepare.  If you just want to be in the chorus, you don't have much to prepare - and at auditions, just show up and be ready to sing a little in a group.

See you Wednesday at the meeting!

2014-2015 All-School Musical: Fiddler On the Roof

Here are the first important things you need to know about being a part of this production:

  • All SHS students who meet the Code of Conduct eligibility guidelines for activities are welcome to participate.  The biggies: Have at least a 2.0 GPA and no F's.
  • If you meet the above requirements, all you have to do is come to auditions and to rehearsals and work hard and YOU ARE IN.  We don't turn anyone away who wants to learn and work.  This is an All-School show.  There WILL be a place for you, whether it's performing or working on crew or doing advertising or whatever!
  • Musicals are BIG time commitments.  You won't have to be there every single day (until we are close to the show, then yes!).  But you will have a variable schedule that will take place mostly between 3:15pm and 5:30pm.  You will have to be flexible and good at managing your time.  You will have the production schedule before auditions so you can get your life together!
  • Auditions are February 10 and 11 in the MJT after school.  There will be an info meeting right after December break where you will hear more details and you'll get an audition packet and production schedule.  We will be asking you to prepare certain things for certain parts.  If you just want to be in the chorus, all you have to do is learn one song and sing it as part of a group. Remember, nobody is turned away.
  • The show is May 14,15,16 with strike on the 17th/18th.
  • You can always post questions here as a comment and Mrs. Tidwell will get back to you ASAP!
